Chromatrap Homogeniser Spin Column

Description

The Chromatrap Homogeniser Spin columns quickly and efficiently homogenises cells and tissue lysates in a single step. They are a perfect alternative to syringe & needle or rotor-stator homogenization homogenisation and ideal sample preparation for nucleic acid miniprep and midiprep,or protein purification.

The spin columns contain  two Porvair Sciences Vyon® discs designed and manufactured to exhibit low DNA/RNA and protein binding for bio-shredding applications, reducing lysate viscosity by removing and capturing high molecular weight insoluble components. The Chromatrap Homogeniser Spin columns are therefore easy to use, reliable and offer high sample recovery, with no sample to sample cross contamination or contamination from the spin column.

 

Protocol

1. Load the sample lysate into Chromatrap Homogeniser Spin column column with a collection tube.
2. Spin at full speed in a micro-centrifuge. (See spec table below)
3. Filtered lysate is collected in the 2ml collection tube, Homogeniser top section is discarded.
4. Samples can then be removed into a fresh storage tube for required application.

Porvair Sciences and Finneran are supporting customers in critical research and development of Covid-19 testing by offering Spin Column Homogenizers for RNA extraction from Buccal swabs. Current diagnostic tests rely on the detection of viral RNA by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) from Buccal swabs obtained from patient samples.

Sample preparation of nasal and throat Buccal swabs is essential to ensure high yields and quality of viral RNA for detection and analysis. The Chromatrap® Homogenizer Spin Column is a quick and rapid method to ensure samples are sufficiently prepared prior to RNA extraction to maximize downstream detection of viral RNA.

Every sample has its own homogenizer column and collection tube thus eliminating cross contamination between samples.
