AMELX is a member of the amelogenin family of extracellular matrix proteins. Amelogenins are involved in biomineralization during tooth enamel development. Mutations in AMELX cause X-linked amelogenesis imperfecta. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa17-191 of human AMELX, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
