| CD235a recognizes a 39kD sialoglycoprotein identified as glycophorin A. It is abundantly expressed on red blood cells and erythroid presursor cells. It has been shown that glycophorin acts on the erythrocyte binding antigen (EBA-175) of P. falciparum as well as the receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, influenza virus and hepatitis A virus. Two types of glylocophorins are indentified and classified as glycophorin A (GPA) and glycophorin B (GPB). Both are trans-membrane sialoglycoproteins. GPA is the career of M and N antigens specific blood group whereas GPB is for the S and U specificities. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 0.5ug/1x10e6 cells in 100ul of staining volume or 0.1ml whole blood followed by a secondary florescent conjugated anti-mouse antibody Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
