Dopa decarboxilase (DDC), also known as aromatic amino acid decarboxylase, is a group II decarboxylase. The enzyme catalyzes the decarboxylation of aromatic Lamino acids to produce the corresponding amines. DDC produces the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin from LDopa and L5hydroxytryptophan, respectively. DDC inhibitors is in clinical use to treat Parkinsons disease(PD), usually coadministrated with LDOPA. DDC would block peripheral conversion to dopamine and allow a greater percentage of LDOPA to reach the brain, causing an increase in brain dopamine levels, and reducing the side effects of dopaminerich blood. - Proteine/Peptide
Human DDC, His Tag on SDS-PAGE under reducing (R) condition. The gel was stained overnight with Coomassie Blue. The purity of the protein is greater than 95%.
