Dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) is G proteincoupled receptor (GPCR) that belong to the D2like dopamine receptor family, couple to Gi to reduce adenylyl cyclase. DRD2s are expressed in different neuronal cell types within the striatum, dopamine binding leads to the inhibition of dopaminergic synaptic transmission. Altered expression level and function of DRD2s are observed in Parkinsons disease, making DRD2 one of the most common therapeutic targets for Parkinsons disease.
