Interleukin6 receptor subunit beta (IL6ST) is also known as IL6 receptor subunit beta, IL6R subunit beta, IL6Rbeta, IL6RB, Interleukin6 signal transducer, Membrane glycoprotein 130 (gp130), CD130, OncostatinM receptor subunit alpha and Il6st,which is singlepass type I membrane protein. IL6ST /gp130 /CD130 can be found in tissues such as brain, heart, thymus, spleen, kidney, lung and liver and found in all the cell lines tested except BaFB03.The expression of IL6ST /gp130 is not restricted to IL6responsive cells. The receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11, CTF1 and BSF3 can utilize gp130 for initiating signal transmission. IL6ST /CD130 can bind to IL6 /IL6R (alpha chain) complex, resulting in the formation of highaffinity IL6 binding sites, and transduce the signal.
