Translin, 31--, Component 3 of promoter of RISC, C3PO, TSN
This gene encodes a DNA-binding protein which specificallyrecognizes conserved target sequences at the breakpoint junction ofchromosomal translocations. Translin polypeptides form a multimericstructure that is responsible for its DNA-binding activity.Recombination-associated motifs and translin-binding sites arepresent at recombination hotspots and may serve as indicators ofbreakpoints in genes which are fused by translocations. Thesebinding activities may play a crucial role in chromosomaltranslocation in lymphoid neoplasms.
