1,3-Diphenylisobenzofuran is a selective fluorescent probe that reacts highly specifically with a number of reactive oxygen species (e.g., singlet oxygen and hydroxyl, alkyl oxygen, or alkyl peroxy radicals), and can be used for the quantitative detection of hydrogen peroxide in samples containing different reactive nitrogen and oxygen species (RNOS), (lambdaex=495 nm, lambdaem=523 nm).
