Neferine is a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid extracted from Plumbago officinalis, which reduces lipid accumulation and promotes beta-oxidation through activation of the AMPK pathway in hepatocytes, and possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antipulmonary fibrosis activities. In addition, Neferine potently inhibits NF-kappaB activation.The affinity Kd value of Neferine for ABCB1 is 0.659 µM.It can be used in studies related to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
