The alpha subunit of human inhibin is a glycoprotein which acts to suppress follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion. Inhibin alpha is expressed in a range of tissues including the endometrium, brain, adrenal gland, testis, and ovary. The antibody may be of value in the differentiation of adrenocortical tumors, placental and gestational trophoblastic lesions, and sex cord stromal tumors.
