Activates 5-adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in cultured mammalian cells [1]. Improves diabetes, glucose and lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity in cultured cells and in mice by AdipoR-dependent mechanisms [1].
