Salbutamol (albuterol) is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist commonly used for the relief symptoms associated with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Released in 1968, salbutamol was the first selective beta-2-receptor agonist to be marketed and was an instant success. Salbutamol been used for the treatment of asthma ever since.
