Methylcardol triene, a cashew nut shell liquid phenolic, acts as an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (IC50 39.6 µM) and a potent schistosomicidal agent, killing 100% of adult S. mansoni worms in vitro within 24 hours at 100-200 µM. It is also a valuable chemical precursor for synthesizing mono- and bis-benzoxazines.
