Streptimidone is a Streptomyces-derived metabolite that inhibits protein synthesis in vitro (IC50 ~50 µg/ml) and demonstrates in vivo antitumor activity. It significantly reduces tumor growth in rat xenograft models of human sarcoma and epidermoid carcinoma at daily doses of 12.5-25 mg/kg.
