1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE) is a water soluble derivative of phosphatidylethanolamine with (18:0) stearic acid acyl chains. Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is formed primarily in the reaction of CDP-ethanolamine and diacylglycerol. PE is one of the major components of cell membranes in bacteria and in nervous system.
