Staurosporine is a broad spectrum kinase inhibitor, inhibiting protein kinase C, p60v-src tyrosine kinase, protein kinase A, and CaM kinase II with IC50 values of 3nM, 6 nM, 7 nM and 20 nM respectively. Staurosporine reduces nuclear myosin heavy chain 9 phosphorylation which inhibits gastric cancer cell progression in transgenic mouse models. Staurosporine inhibits cell viability and promotes apoptosis in oral and pancreatic cancer cells. Staurosporine also enhances efficiency of lentiviral transduction of human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, induces dopaminergic axonal outgrowth in vitro and triggers mitophagy.
