TPCK is an irreversible chymotrypsin-like serine protease inhibitor, acting as an alkylating agent that interferes with translation. TPCK is useful for inhibiting chymotrypsin activity in trypsin preparations. TPCK also inhibits apoptosis in thymocytes and blocks the induction of nitric oxide synthase by i-interferon and lipopolysaccharides.
