Kex2 Protease, Saccharomyces cerevisiae (EC 3.4.21.61) is a calcium-dependent serine protease capable of cleaving C-terminal lysine-arginine, arginine-arginine, and proline-arginine residues during the maturation of alpha-factor precursors and cytotoxic toxin precursors. Kex2 Protease, Saccharomyces cerevisiae (EC 3.4.21.61) cannot recognize and cleave the C-terminal peptide bonds of single basic amino acids, such as arginine and lysine.
