S-2,3-Dicarboxyaziridine is a metabolite produced by a Streptomyces strain and a potent competitive fumarase inhibitor with a Ki of 0.08 µM. As a transition state analog, S-2,3-Dicarboxyaziridine mimics the carbanion intermediate in the fumarase-catalyzed reaction and binds to fumarase, protects the enzyme from dilution-induced inactivation, and exhibits no substrate activity or enzyme inactivation properties. S-2,3-Dicarboxyaziridine shows antibacterial activity against Aeromonas salmonecida[1][2].
