Demethylwedelolactone is a naturally occurring coumestan found in Eclipta alba andWedelia calendulacea. Demethylwedelolactone inhibits trypsin with an IC50 of 3.0 µg/mL. Demethylwedelolactone blocks MEK/ERK and NF-kB signaling pathways via inhibited phosphorylation of ERK and IkB-alpha. Demethylwedelolactone reduces MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity and expression, suppresses breast cancer cell motility, invasion, and tumor metastasis. Demethylwedelolactone inhibits mast cell degranulation, and LPS (HY-D1056)-stimulated NO, TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6 production. Demethylwedelolactone improves liver function and reduces hepatic fat accumulation. Demethylwedelolactone can be used for the research of cancer, inflammation and metabolic disease[1][2][3][4].
