Human prolactin is a four-alpha-helix bundle protein hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. The biological activity of prolactin is mediated by its binding to the prolactin receptor (PRLR) in a one-to-two complex, and is regulated by the characteristics of its tertiary structure[1].
