LRRC15 protein actively modulates SARS-CoV-2 infectivity by directly interacting with the spike protein, inhibiting ACE2(+) cell infection. While not an entry receptor, LRRC15, expressed on nearby cells, sequesters virions, and its direct interaction with the spike proteins RBD domain leads to virion sequestration at the cell surface.
