The Vps29 protein is an important component of the reverse transcriptase cargo-selective complex (CSC), which prevents mispairing of transmembrane cargo proteins leading to lysosomal degradation. It coordinates retrograde transport from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network through distinct pathways involving the SNX-BAR, SNX3, and SNX27 retrosome complexes.
