Neuregulin-2/NRG2 protein serves as a direct ligand for the ERBB3 and ERBB4 tyrosine kinase receptors, initiating ligand-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation and activation of these receptors. At the same time, NRG2 simultaneously recruits ERBB1 and ERBB2 coreceptors, possibly promoting heterodimerization with the EGF receptor.
