Reduction in glutamate concentration in blood is induced through the activity of the blood-resident enzyme glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase 1 (GOT1), which catalyzes the reversible transformation of oxaloacetate and glutamate to aspartate and alpha-ketoglutarate[1].
