CD79B protein, together with CD79A, initiates the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) signaling cascade, which is critical for complex internalization and transport to late endosomes, promoting antigen presentation. CD79B enhances CD79A phosphorylation, possibly recruiting kinases or protective proteins.
