It has been found as a minor component of bovine milk fat and in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. 9(E),12(Z)-Octadecadienoic acid levels increase in rabbit meat following supplementation with heated sunflower oil, alpha-tocopheryl acetate, and zinc.
