(Z,E)-Farnesol (cis,trans-Farnesol, (2Z,6E)-Farnesol) is a sesquiterpene alcohol and 2-cis,6-trans isomer of farnesol.(Z,E)-Farnesol is biosynthesized by soluble enzymes from Pinus radiata seedlings, either from mevalonic acid or from the condensation of isopentenyl pyrophosphate plus 2-trans geranyl pyrophosphate.(Z,E)-Farnesol has no detected phosphorylated derivatives in studied experimental systems[1].
