Non-viable cell pellet was generated from cell line WM858. WM858 is a metastatic human melanoma cell line established from a metastatic site (right axillary nodes) in a 48-year-old female with level III malignant, superficial spreading melanoma. The subject displayed polypoid VGP with a tumor thickness of 3.24mm. This cell line features the specific V600E (Val600Glu) mutation at codon 600 in the BRAF gene. This mutation causes constitutively active kinase activity and activation of MEK and ERK signaling pathway. This cell line expresses wild type PTEN, N-RAS, c-KIT, and CDK4 genes. WM858 cells match with WM873-1 and WM873-2. These cells produce xenograft tumors when injected into immunocompromised mice.
