Alarin (human) acetate is a neuropeptide belonging to the hypothalamic galanin family, widely expressed in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues of humans and rodents. It possesses the signal sequence of the GALP precursor peptide and the first five amino acids of mature GALP lacking exon 3 .Alarin exhibits vasoactive, anti-inflammatory, anti-oedematous, and antibacterial properties, alongside central regulatory functions in energy homeostasis, glucose homeostasis, body temperature, and reproductive hormone secretion.
