mPEG-N3 (MW 20000) is utilized for the modification of proteins, peptides, and other materials. Its azide group reacts with alkynes in water through copper-catalyzed coupling, and it can be readily reduced to an amino group. PEGylation enhances solubility and stability while decreasing the immunogenicity of peptides and proteins. Additionally, mPEG-N3 (MW 20000) inhibits nonspecific binding of charged molecules to modified surfaces.
