Silane-PEG-COOH (MW 3400) is suitable for modifying proteins, peptides, and other materials with active groups. The carboxyl group (-COOH) can readily form stable amide bonds with amino groups, and ester bonds with hydroxyl groups. Silane-functionalized PEG (Silane-PEG-X) is also applicable for altering surfaces such as glass and silicon.
