T4 lysozyme, derived from recombinant E.coli strains, is capable of lysing bacterial cell walls. It targets the peptidoglycan of bacterial cell walls, hydrolyzing the beta-1,4 bond between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine.
