Mono (2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl) terephthalate (MEHHTP) is a hydroxy metabolite of Di-2-ethylhexyl terephthalate (DEHTP) and acts as an agonist of the liver X receptor alpha (LXRalpha) with a binding energy of -7.41 kcal/mol. MEHHTP upregulates downstream targets of LXRalpha, including SREBP-1c and FASN, enhancing lipogenic enzyme activity and increasing triglyceride (TG) levels in hepatocytes. This compound shows potential for research in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
