Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) also known as gamma-seminoprotein or kallikrein-3 is a glycoprotein that in humans is encoded by the KLK3 gene. PSA is produced for the ejaculate where it liquifies the semen in the seminal coagulum and allows sperm to swim freely. PSA is also believed to be instrumental in dissolving the cervical mucous, allowing the entry of sperm. Electrophoresis: Single band with gamma electrophoretic mobility Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
