Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein that is normally only produced in the fetus during its development, and its measurement during pregnancy has been useful to detect certain abnormalities. Elevated levels, if found in amniotic fluid, can indicate a developmental defect in the baby, and is a valuable diagnostic tumor marker. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4C. Do not freeze. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
