MLYCD, malonyl CoA decarboxylase, catalyzes the conversion of malonyl CoA to acetyl CoA and carbon dioxide. In fatty acid biosynthesis MCD selectively removes malonyl CoA and thus assures that methyl malonyl CoA is the only chain elongating substrate for fatty acid synthase and that fatty acids with multiple methyl side chains are produced. In peroxisomes it may be involved in degrading intraperoxisomal malonyl CoA, which is generated by the peroxisomal beta oxidation of odd chain length dicarboxylic fatty acids. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: APC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
