Renin is a protease that is synthesized by the kidneys. Renin catalyzes the hydrolysis of angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, which is converted to angiotensin II, a highly potent vasoconstrictor. Renin inhibitors have been used therapeutically in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). The Renin BioAssay(TM) Kit is designed to measure Renin activity for screening and profiling applications. It comes in a convenient 96-well format, with purified, activated renin, renin substrate, and assay buffer for 100 enzyme reactions. Aliskiren Hydrochloride is also included as a control for renin inhibition. The key to the Renin Assay Kit is the specific, fluorogenic substrate. Using this kit, only one simple step on a microtiter plate is required for renin reactions. The fluorometric substrate is incubated with a sample containing renin enzyme to produce a fluorophore that can then be measured using a fluorescence reader. Note: This kit is also suitable for use with cell extracts. Applications: Great for studying enzyme kinetics, screening small molecular inhibitors for drug discovery and HTS applications. Components: Activated Renin, 1x2ug Renin Assay Buffer, 1x25ml Renin Substrate, 1x30ul 100um in DMSO Black 96-well plate, 1 plate Storage and Stability: Store powder at 4C liquid at -20C. Store other components at 4C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
