Garcinol is a polyisoprenylated benzophenone derivative and histone acetyltransferase (HAT) PCAF and p300 inhibitor. It has been used to inhibit the growth of cancel cell lines and promote ex vivo expansion of human stem cells. Garcinol also exhibits antioxidative and chelating activity and predominantly down regulates the global gene expression in HeLa cells.
