Benomyl is a fungicide that inhibits the growth of fungi by inhibiting chitin synthesis. It can be used to treat infectious diseases caused by fungi, such as ringworm and athletes foot. Benomyl is effective against wild-type strains of fungi, but has low potency and efficacy in vitro. This drug also shows antifungal activity in animal studies, causing increased locomotor activity.
