Diuron is a herbicide that inhibits the growth and metabolism of plants by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleotide phosphate. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of infectious diseases, such as malaria and HIV, by inhibiting the energy metabolism of these pathogens. Diuron has also been shown to inhibit enzyme activities in wastewater.
