Kaempferol 3-O-a-L-arabinopyranoside is a flavonoid that has antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). It is a flavonol glycoside that can be found in cranberry juice, and is also an antioxidant. The antiviral activity of kaempferol 3-O-a-L-arabinopyranoside may be due to its synergistic interaction with other compounds such as phenolic acids, which are also found in cranberries. Kaempferol 3-O-a-L-arabinopyranoside has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of the bacteria Stenotrophomonas maltophilia and Fusarium oxysporum, although it does not show any significant effects on yeast biomass.
