Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide containing repeating disaccharide units of beta-1,3-N-acetyl glucosamine and beta-1, 4-glucuronic acid. A series of unsaturated oligosaccharides (oligouronic acids) are released from hyaluronic acid by the action of hyaluronidase on the umbilical cord (Weissman, 1954). This tetrasaccharide and other enzymatically produced polymer homologs have been of value in the study of hyaluronic acid metabolism in both healthy and diseased tissues (Hascall, 2019). Synonym: Hyaluronic acid tetramer CAS No: 57282-61-8 Molecular Formula: C28H44N2O23 Molecular Weight: 776.65 Appearance: White to off-white powder Purity (NMR): 95% 1H-NMR Spectrum: Conforms to reference Storage and Stability: May be stored at RT for short-term only. Long-term storage is recommended at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
