Cytokine that in its homotrimeric form binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1, TNFRSF1B/TNFBR and TNFRSF14/HVEM. In its heterotrimeric form with LTB binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR. Lymphotoxin is produced by lymphocytes and cytotoxic for a wide range of tumor cells in vitro and in vivo. Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by a cytotoxicity assay using murine L929 cells is less than 5 pg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2.0x10e8 IU/mg in the presence of actinomycin D.
