coaA (pantothenate kinase) belongs to the prokaryotic pantothenate kinase family. Pantothenate kinase (PanK, CoaA) is the first enzyme in the Coenzyme A biosynthetic pathway. It phophorylates pantothenate (vitamin B5) to form 4-phosphopantothenate. Regulation of pantothenate kinase activity by feedback inhibition is the critical factor controlling the intracellular CoA concentration. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-316 of E. coli coaa, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
