Quinolinate phosphoribosyltransferase, also known as QPRT, is a major enzyme in the catabolism of quinolinate. It is an intermediate in the tryptophannicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) pathway, leading to the production of nicotinic acid, carbon dioxide and pyrophosphate. Elevation of QPRT levels in the brain has been linked to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as epilepsy, Alzheimers disease, and Huntingtons disease. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-297 of human QPRT, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
