SNF 8, also known as EAP30 (ELL-associated protein of 30kD), is localizes to both the nucleus and the cytoplasm and is a member of the SNF8 family of vacuolar sorting proteins. This protein is subunit of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport II (ESCRT-II), which is required for multivesicular body (MVB) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. The MVB pathway mediates delivery of transmembrane proteins into the lumen of the lysosome for degradation. The ESCRT-II complex may also play a role in transcription regulation by participating in derepression of transcription by RNA polymerase II, possibly via its interaction with ELL. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-258 of human SNF8, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
