MESDC2 is also known as LDLR chaperone MESD. This protein is specialized chaperone for low- density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5 and LRP6. MESDC2 binds to mature LRP6 on the cell surface and blocks the binding of Wnt antagonist Dickkopf-1 to LRP6. Furthermore, MESDC2 plays an essential role in NMJ formation by promoting Lrp4 maturation.
