Ornithine decarboxylase antizyme 1, also known as OAZ1, belongs to the ODC antizyme family. It expression is auto-regulated by polyamine-enhanced translational frameshifting. OAZ1 negatively regulates polyamine synthesis by enhancing the negative feedback loop controlling ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity.
