P4HB, also known as protein disulfide-isomerase, prolyl 4-hydroxylase subunit beta, protocollagen hydroxylase, cellular thyroid hormone binding protein p55 and glutathione-insulin transhydrogenase, is an abundant multifunctional enzyme that belongs to the protein disulfide isomerase family. At the cell surface, it seems to act as a reductase that cleaves disulfide bonds of proteins attached to the cell.
